Sen Pao

Sen Pao was born in Surabaya on May 8, 1949. He comes from a family consisting of six brothers and sisters of whom he is the second eldest. In The family since childhood he was found of making sketches and got guidance in drawing from the Chanha Institute in the year 1967 and 1968. Afterwards he obtained an education from Mr. Wing in Bali for three years. While being employment at another job, he was looking for new ideas and he gathered his caurage to hold his first painting exhibition at a museum in Bali, then in Bali beach and Sanur. In 1979, he once again took the initiative to introduce his creative product he had gathered since 1972 - 48 in number which were exhibited at the cultural Hall in Jakarta, his first painting exhibition. Besides he fondness in painting, he is also fond of studying music, which has been by his activities during ten years in studying how to play certain kinds of violins, not to mention yet his other fondness in sports. During a press interview, he told the press, that human faces as well as objects in Bali are his favourite painting, but this subjects does not mean that he is only concetrating on painting objects with motives from Bali. He is sometimes also busy with painting using eastern motives. This a clear indication, that Sen Pao is obviously a young and talented painter with various kinds of motives. It takes him three hours to finish a medium sized painting while a large size painting he usually completes within three months. He will hold another solo painting exhibition in Surabaya, his birth place, following the present painting exhibition in Jakarta
