Jati's painting is characterized with his individual signature: athletic and tall figures of man. These refined figures posed dominantly in various realistic scenery natures. Jati was born in Ubud, 1940. He learned painting from his uncle, I Dewa Putu Bedil.
The subject of his painting mainly illustrated the Balinese daily life, featuring the live of fisherman and farmers. His works notably discussed in various publications, including Hugh Mabbet's The Balinese. His paintings are part of museum collection, such as Neka Museum (Ubud). The name of "Jati" often unintentionally written as "Djati", the old spelling prior to the implementation of new spelling EYD in 1972.
